Redness, swelling or tenderness in the treated area is a normal result of the injections and will generally disappear within a few days.
In addition, bruising is a common side effect with filler injections. If symptoms persist for over 7 days or other reactions occur please contact Stillwater Skin & Medical Spa.
Avoid medications containing NSAIDs, aspirin, vitamin E and ginseng
Avoid this type of medication for a week following a treatment unless medically necessary, in cases where the use of these medicines is for treatments please discuss with your GP prior to stopping any treatment.
Keep Your Head Elevated
Try to keep busy after your injections and avoid lying down or taking a nap for at least four hours. It’s important to keep your head elevated during this time to avoid putting pressure on the injected areas and prevent the product from migrating.
Avoid Rigorous Exercise and Activities
After receiving injections, be sure to avoid participating in any strenuous physical activity, especially if it involves bending over.
Furthermore, in order to prevent post-injection headaches, avoid any type of aerobic exercises for at least 24 hours.
Don’t Massage the Injection Sites
While moving your muscles and making natural expressions is perfectly safe – and actually recommended – avoid rubbing or massaging the injection site to prevent the product from spreading to other areas of the face.
Also try not to press on the injection site for several hours in order to allow the product to naturally disperse throughout the muscle.
Drink plenty of water
This helps your skin with cellular rejuvenation and cellular turnover – keeping it hydrated, fresh, young and healthy.
Don’t Shower for at least 24 hours
The risk of bruising following an injection is increased when the body or face gets too hot. In addition to avoiding hot tubs, saunas, and other similar places, do not take a hot bath or shower for at least 24 hours after having this treatment.
Avoid Additional Facial Treatments For At Least Three Days
If you are looking to combine your injections with any other facial treatment such as a facial, chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or laser treatment, speak with your injector about when it will be suitable to have these procedures done.
Typically, it’s recommended that you wait 24 to 72 hours after Botox injections before having any other procedures.
Most patients have no problems after facial filler treatments. Overall, it is extremely safe and very satisfying! Fillers cannot always last as long as desired or improve wrinkles as much as hoped. Fillers do not “get rid” of all your wrinkles. Patients should expect “significant improvement” not complete wrinkle removal. If the patient doesn’t get the results may want, often the answer is more filler. This means purchasing more products. This is not a problem; extra filler can be safely added shortly after the first treatment or at any time. It usually leads to improved results and increased satisfaction. If extra product is needed to get the desired result, the office strives to give you the best price for the needed filler.
General Care After Fillers:
Facial Fillers may cause:
Fillers are gradually absorbed and don’t always last as long as desired. Fillers last a different amount of time for each individual. Usually, they last between 9 and 12 months. How long fillers last does not depend on the doctor but on how quickly you absorb them. It isn’t bad if it is absorbed early; it’s just how quickly your body metabolizes it. In this case, it can be disappointing, but nothing is wrong. Additional products can be purchased, and that is usually the answer. It can be safely added anytime and usually gets better results and satisfaction.
If you have any additional concerns after treatment, please don’t hesitate to call our office.
You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a rash, cold sore, or open sores in the treatment area.
You will experience swelling and bruising for three – five days post treatment, which will begin decreasing over a few weeks. Swelling can last four – six weeks.
Results are not immediate. Results may be seen as early as four weeks post-treatment, but full results will not be noticed until 12 weeks post-treatment. Numbness can last up to 12 weeks.
Many patients need two to three treatments to achieve the desired results. A follow-up appointment should be scheduled four to six weeks after the first treatment.
